Petrobras delivered strong results in 2025, even though oil prices were lower than the year before. Net income reached $19.4 billion, up 161%, helped by higher production and improved efficiency. Output grew by 11%, and the company set a record production level in Q3 2025. The company invested $20.3 billion during the year, mostly in oil exploration and production. It also paid high dividends, with a yield of about 6.4%, making it one of the top dividend-paying oil companies globally. Its reserves also grew faster than production, which supports long-term output. The stock has risen about 78% from its recent lows, supported by strong performance and reduced political concerns. A key strength is Petrobras’ low production cost ($40–45 per barrel), which allows it to generate solid cash flow even when oil prices are not high. With oil prices recently above $90, profitability looks even stronger. The main risks are political. The government can influence decisions like dividends and investments, which creates uncertainty. There is also ongoing pressure from investors focused on environmental (ESG) concerns.
