Analysis
Fiscal Q1 2027 revenue was $92.3 billion, up 19% and above the $90.7 billion estimate. Operating income rose 21% to about $46 billion, and adjusted EPS of $4.89 beat the $4.72 consensus and rose 18%. Azure revenue reached $33.2 billion, up 48% against about 45% expected, and Microsoft Cloud revenue reached $63.9 billion, up 30%.
Capital spending was $45.2 billion including leases, and Microsoft says it will top $50 billion next quarter. Q2 guidance is revenue of $96.0 billion to $97.1 billion and Azure growth of 49% to 50%.
Microsoft raised $25 billion in its first US investment-grade bond sale since 2017, in ten tranches with orders of about $115 billion, for general corporate purposes including capital spending. It still generated $18.6 billion of free cash flow in the quarter and keeps a AAA credit rating.
